Impartiality
Under Government ethics rules, you must not work, for one year after leaving a private sector job, on any contract or other Government matter in which your former employer is a party (or represents a party), if either you or an agency ethics official determines that a reasonable person would question your impartiality.
The obligation not to work on the matter may be lifted only by an authorization from an agency official who is specially authorized to make the decision allowing you to work on the matter. If your Government job requires you to be involved in a matter affecting your former employer, you should stop until you get advice from your agency ethics officials. You should also notify your supervisor of the potential appearance issue.
