Mullen-Roth Associate Director for Education SUBJECT: "Misuse of Position" Introductory Course offered in Washington, DC The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) will conduct two identical introductory course sessions on "Misuse of Position" (Subpart G of the Standards of Conduct) in Washington, DC Wednesday, October 15, 1997 and Thursday, November 13, 1997. The two and one-half hour introductory course is intended for ethics officials who are new to ethics and/or who have little or no experience advising employees about misuse of position issues. The course provides a broad overview of Subpart G and includes a four- step approach to determine whether proposed actions would be prohibited by the misuse of position subpart. The course also includes practical exercises on identifying misuse of position issues and advising employees whether prospective actions may be undertaken. These two training sessions will be offered at: Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation Training Institute - Suite 170 (First floor) 1200 K Street, NW. Washington, DC 20005 NOTE: The "Misuse of Position" course will be offered at the 1997 Annual Government Ethics Conference in Williamsburg, VA. These courses are free to each agency. However, advanced registration is required. Each person planning to attend MUST register by faxing a completed registration form to OGE by Wednesday, October 8 for the October 15 course and Thursday, November 6 for the November 13 course. Registration will be handled on a first-come basis and each class size is limited to 25 participants per workshop. NO TELEPHONE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Registration forms are attached.
