SUBJECT:  Workshop on "Widely Attended Gatherings" Gift Exception
          in Washington, DC, May 13, 1997 


     The Office of Government Ethics (OGE) will conduct a 2-1/2 hour
workshop on the "Widely Attended Gatherings" Gift Exception in
Washington, DC on Tuesday, May 13, 1997.   Please circulate this
memorandum, workshop description and registration form among your
ethics officials.


Basic Refresher

     This workshop is a basic refresher on the Widely Attended
Gatherings and Other Events gift exception.  It is NOT intended for
ethics officials who are well-versed in the application of this
exception and want to explore the fine nuances of the rule.


Advance Registration by FAX Required

     This workshop is free to all agencies.  However, advance
registration is required.  To register, please FAX a completed

OGE Will Confirm Registration

     Registration is handled on a first-come basis.  OGE will confirm
each student's registration by return fax prior to the workshop.  Due

on the confirmation.
