Agency Model Practices

Clever Solution for Identifying New Employees Entering the Agency Can Increase Timeliness of Providing Initial Ethics Orientation and Collecting New Entrant Financial Disclosure Reports

In order to identify new employees for purposes of initial ethics orientation and new entrant financial disclosure, ethics officials may look to their agency's information technology division. One agency requires an ethics official's signature on the form authorizing the creation of a new computer account. Without an ethics official's signature it is not possible for a new employee to use the agency's computers or networks. This practice ensures that the ethics office is aware every time a new employee joins the agency, thus enabling ethics officials to provide timely initial ethics orientation and collect new entrant financial disclosure reports, as appropriate.
