More on Payment from Private
Employers
Additionally, you need to be sure that any payments or other benefits given to you by a former employer who is a Government contractor are for past services for the contractor. You are prohibited from receiving, from any outside source, any supplementation of your Government salary as compensation for your services to the Government.
This provision may apply if your former employer makes a payment to you and there is an indication that the payment is intended to compensate you for doing your Government job, rather than to compensate you for past services to the former employer or for some reason unrelated to Government service.
If you are to receive a payment from a former employer after entering Government service, you should consult with your agency ethics officials to make sure you can accept it within existing ethics laws and regulations.
