Executive branch employees who work on contract matters or who have contact with contractor employees sometimes may consider the possibility of going to work for a contractor.  If you decide to seek employment with a contractor, there are several laws and rules that govern what you must do in your Government job while seeking employment with a contractor. 

If you communicate with a contractor about potential future employment, ethics rules will limit the types of matters in which you can participate while you're seeking and negotiating employment. Additionally, the ethics rules will limit the functions you can perform in your new job with the contractor.
