Man using an adding machineSummary of Conflicts of Interest Section

As we've seen, you have an obligation to act in the best interests of our Government and the American people. Ethics rules are designed to ensure that you don't place private interests before your obligation to serve the people's interest.

In this section we've seen that ethics rules prohibit you from working on matters that would have an effect on your personal financial interests or the interests of certain other persons, like your spouse.

Further, the rules prohibit you from representing a contractor, or any private entity before the Government. The rules also place restrictions on moonlighting as an employee for a contractor.

You've now come to the end of the "Conflicts of Interest" section. You may either continue on to the "Impartiality" section or click on any of the other sections of this course on the left.
