Spousal Employment

Suppose your spouse works for a contractor that does business with your agency. What then?

In this case, you may be prohibited from working on an agency contract with the contractor. This may be true particularly if your spouse gets a bonus or receives profit-sharing compensation.

If your spouse participates in a pension plan administered by the contractor or holds stock in the contractor, you also may have a financial conflict of interest and be prohibited from working on an agency contract with the contractor.

If any of these circumstances describe your situation, remember to contact your agency ethics official for guidance.
